Privacy and Cookie Policy
The short version.
- This website does not set cookies. No analytics, no ad pixels, no tracking scripts, no session recording.
- We only collect what you choose to give us, like your email address when you join our list.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and we never will.

Who we are
This website, sheleadsventura.com, is run by Black in Business 805, the organizer of the She Leads Ventura County awards dinner. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" mean Black in Business 805. If you have a question about privacy, write to shenee@sheleadsventura.com.
What we collect and why
Information you give us
- Email list. When you sign up to stay in touch, we collect your email address. We use it only to send She Leads and Black in Business 805 news, such as event dates, honoree announcements, and sponsor deadlines. You will get a confirmation email first, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Messages. If you email us about tickets, sponsorship, or vending, we use what you send to answer you and handle your request.
Information collected automatically
Our web host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs when any page loads. These logs can include your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. They are used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use them to build profiles, and we do not combine them with other information to identify you.
Fonts and images on this site are served from our own domain, so loading a page does not send your information to Google or any other outside company.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser. Similar tools include local storage, tracking pixels, and device fingerprinting.
This site does not use any of them. Because we set no cookies, there is nothing to accept or decline, and you will not see a cookie banner here.

The highlight reel video
Our 2025 highlight reel is hosted on Vimeo. The Vimeo player does not load until you press play, and we load it with Vimeo's "Do Not Track" setting turned on. Once you press play, your browser connects to Vimeo, and Vimeo's privacy policy and cookie policy apply to that video.
Services we use
A few trusted services help us run the event. Each one only gets what it needs for its job.

When you leave our site
Some buttons take you to other websites: Eventbrite for tickets, Google Forms for vendor applications, Facebook and Instagram, and Google Maps for directions. Those sites run under their own privacy policies, and anything you enter there is handled by them. Please review their policies:

When you buy a ticket on Eventbrite or apply to vend through Google Forms, the event organizer receives the details you submit there (such as your name, email, and business information) so we can run the event.
We do not sell or share your information
We do not sell personal information. We do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not give personal information to other companies for their own marketing. We do not use personal information for profiling or automated decisions.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal. We honor both. Since this site does not track visitors across websites or over time, there is no tracking to switch off. No third party collects personal information about your online activity over time and across other websites through our site.
How long we keep information
- Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to handle your request and our event records.
- Server logs: kept by Netlify for a short period under its own retention schedule.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you,
- correct it,
- delete it, or
- stop emailing you (or just use the unsubscribe link in any email).
Email shenee@sheleadsventura.com with your request. We will respond within 30 days, and we will not treat you differently for asking. We may need to confirm the request came from you before we act on it. California residents may also use an authorized agent.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom: we process your email address based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time, and we process messages you send us to respond to you. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we limit who can access our email list. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect small so there is less to protect.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If we ever start using cookies or tracking, we will update this page and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
